Our Classes

Gymnastics is a sport that is not just for a year, but for your whole life. What do we mean by that? Gymnastics is known to not only improve physical aspects associated with sport, but also enhance many aspects used in everyday life. It can have both physical and everyday benefits such as: flexibility, coordination, body awareness, physical strength, balance, Self-motivation, discipline, cognitive learning, social skills and work ethic.

Beginner Gymnastics

KinderGym

Once your child has reached the stage of being able to listen and actively follow basic instructions, they can come try the Kinder Gym class. In this parent-participant class, you are right there on the floor guiding your child along a multitude of different activities, sharing in their joy of learning in their early years. Kinder Gym is the first stepping stone to allowing children to build their independence and overcome personal obstacles through learning and play. Kinder Gym aims to improve skills such as coordination, balance and strength in a fun, colourful environment.

Prep Gym

Prep gym is a new style transition class aimed to aid in the changeover from play-based Kindergym to real gymnastics. This class is designed for children who have actively progressed through Kinder Gym, or, are new to gymnastics but are confident in being on the floor by themselves. Prep Gym starts to introduce children to basic gymnastic skills and movements whilst still incorporating play and having fun. “Preppies” participate in a range of activities on various apparatus, improving not only the physical aspects associated with gymnastics but also learning how to interact with their coaches and fellow peers. This class also encourages independent learning and discovering how to overcome personal challenges.

General Gymnastics

It is never too late to start gymnastics! The general gymnastics class is perfect for primary school-aged children who have never done gymnastics but would like to start. This class introduces boys and girls to basic gymnastic skills and movements across multiple apparatus. General gymnastics aims to challenge and improve their coordination, core strength, body awareness and movement patterns which are not only useful in gymnastics but a multitude of other sports and life activities.

Advanced Gymnastics

Tumbling

Boys and girls who have mastered basic gymnastics skills and have a preference towards being on the floor, trampoline and tumble track will be invited to join the tumbling class. This class is perfect for those yearning to learn how to flip, tumble and spin safely using correct technique. Classes focus on teaching the basics of tumbling all the way through to competing at an International Level. Tumblers are given the opportunity to compete at multiple competitions throughout the year, and to participate in showcases held at the Centre.

Acrobatic Gymnastics

Boys and girls who have mastered basic gymnastics skills, have the preference and skill ability to work with others, and can commit to coming multiple times per week will be invited to trial this class. In Acrobatic Gymnastics, children must work together in a set group (of 2 or 3) and perform routines consisting of dance, group skills and individual skills. This is a competitive class where children are expected to attend multiple competitions per year. Competitions consist of Regional and State level competitions, with Levels 4 and above also required to attend a National Club Championship.

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG)

Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) – MAG gymnasts compete on six different apparatus: Floor, Pommel Horse, Rings, Vault, Parallel Bars and High Bar. MAG builds strength, enhances co-ordination and posture and will develop your son into a strong, confident and happy young man. Classes focus on skill and routine development, and preparing gymnasts to participate in inter club, regional and state level competitions held throughout the year. Robertson Gymnastics currently provides classes for gymnasts competing in Levels 1 to 8.

Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG)

WAG gymnasts compete on four different apparatus: Vault, Uneven Bars, Beam and Floor. WAG develops posture, balance and body awareness, builds strength and flexibility and is the perfect sport to teach your daughter co-ordination and confidence. Classes focus on skill and routine development, and preparing gymnasts to participate in inter club, regional and state level competitions held throughout the year. Robertson Gymnastics currently provides classes for gymnasts competing in Levels 1 to 8.

Trampoline and Double Mini Trampoline

Robertson Gymnastics is a National Centre of Excellence in Trampoline Sports and a 12 time National Clubs Championships winner. Trampoline Sports is the perfect sport to teach your child safe aerial skills in a properly equipped environment. Classes focus on skill and routine development, and preparing gymnasts to participate in inter club, state, national and international competitions held throughout the year. Robertson Gymnastics currently provides classes for gymnasts competing in Level 1 right through to Elite Levels..

Dance

Robertson Gymnastics has partnered with 5 Star Dance Academy to offer classes in Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary and Performance Dance styles. Classes are held in our newly constructed Dance room under the instruction of certified dance instructors. All dancers are given the opportunity to participate in our annual Gala Concert held at the end of each year. Dance develops flexibility, musicality and physical coordination and is a fantastic sport for all ages..
